The Bible Brief

Filed under: — Scott Branyan @ 10:56 pm

The Bible Brief consists of notes from Scott’s Bible Exposition Class which meets on Tuesday nights.

The class notes are posted in Scott’s sbranyan.com blog under The Bible Brief category. Look for notes on individual books of the Bible also in their own category (for example, “Genesis,” “Exodus,” etc.).

Enough notes are generated each year to fill a notebook binder if you print off the PowerPoint slides. Do not overlook the slides as some of the best material is found there in the way of charts, maps and diagrams. You can also use the search tool to help you find a particular topic or lesson.

Subscribe here for the weekly announcement newsletter to keep up with the class schedule. Please contact Scott if you wish more information.

The class meets in Northwest Arkansas from the second Tuesday in January through the 1st Tuesday of December as Scott’s schedule allows. It covers an exposition of the English text (about 2-3 chapters per class) from a literal, historical viewpoint. Students will learn the major divisions and smaller pericopal sections of the Bible. Biblical and theological difficulties, figures of speech, the difference between the historical, poetic, parabolic and epistolary sections of the Bible, and scriptural correlation will be covered. A main objective is to see the major Old Testament prophecies of the Bible in context, especially those which relate to Jesus the Messiah.

(Tentative Schedule)

  • 2008 – Exposition of Genesis and Exodus 1-15 (FINISHED!)
  • 2009 – Exposition of Exodus 16-40 (FINISHED!) and Leviticus (FINISHED!)
  • 2010 – Numbers and Deuteronomy
